Renewable energy consumption is the share of renewables energy in total final energy consumption. (World Bank)
- Iceland: Iceland relies almost entirely on renewable energy sources, primarily geothermal and hydropower, due to its unique geothermal activity and abundant water resources, enabling the country to provide sustainable electricity and heating for nearly all its needs.
- Northern European Countries: Norway’s energy is dominated by hydropower, with growing wind power investments; Sweden and Finland use a mix of hydropower and bioenergy, supported by expanding wind power projects and emerging solar energy installations, driven by strong government policies and environmental commitments.
- Other Countries: The United States uses a diverse mix of wind, solar, hydro, and bioenergy with significant regional variations; Germany focuses on wind and solar power supported by the Energiewende policy; China leads in solar and wind energy production, investing heavily in infrastructure to reduce coal dependence; Brazil relies mainly on hydropower, with significant contributions from bioenergy and expanding wind and solar sectors.
