The rapid urban population growth in the top 20 countries between 1961 and 2022 was primarily driven by factors such as economic booms from oil and gas industries, post-conflict reconstruction efforts, significant migration and repatriation movements, strategic government policies, and substantial investments in infrastructure and urban development.
